About Ruth Gotlieb (Kilbirnie) Library | Te Awa-a-Taia
Te Awa-a-Taia Ruth Gotlieb Library is the largest Library in the south and east suburbs of the City, and is situated at the southern end of the Kilbirnie Park recreation precinct.
The Library offers preschool, holidays and teen programming alongside the usual fare of print and digital resources.
The Māori name was gifted by mana whenua partners Wellington Tenths Trust and means 'the channel of Taia', referring to a time before the 1840 Hoawhenua earthquake when this was a second entrance to Wellington Harbour, across the Kilbirnie isthmus.
