Te Takapu o Paukawenga (Tawa Library) is the northern most branch of Wellington City Libraries, closest to Porirua. It is a community library that holds a special place in the locals hearts having been situated on the main road across from two Churches for over twenty five years. It provides a spacious meeting place for all ages.
Te Takapū o Patukawenga was a garden cultivation located in the valley of the Porirua stream in the vicinity of the present Takapū road which is found as you enter Tawa from the south.
