About Ngā Puna Waiora | Newtown Library
Ngā Puna Waiora Newtown Library is located in the busy and colourful suburb of Newtown.
The Library offers preschool, holidays and teen programming alongside the usual fare of print and digital resources.
The Māori name was gifted by mana whenua partners Wellington Tenths Trust and refers to the many streams flowing down the hills in the vicinity of Newtown, from the 'Te Ranga a Hiwi' ridge that runs in a North/South direction from Matairangi (Mt Victoria). The water soaked into the hill and bubbled up to the surface under what is now the new Children's Hospital on Riddiford Street.
