Hakeke Street Library is a proud community-run branch of the Whanganui District Library network, right in the heart of Whanganui East. It’s more than just a library—it’s a lively neighbourhood hub, built on connection, support, and shared kaupapa.
With over 2,500 books for all ages and a strong focus onoutreach, it’s a place where locals come to learn, grow, and look out for each other. There’s free internet, computers, a thriving community garden, and a calendar full of events, workshops, and programmes that reflect the needs and spirit of the area.
