About Wairarapa Archive
Te Pūranga Kōrero o Wairarapa | Wairarapa Archive is dedicated to collecting and preserving Wairarapa’s unique heritage. Established in 1989, the archive holds a range of heritage resources of the Wairarapa, including:
- A collection of over two million photographs, of which over 25,000 have been digitised.
- Over 1000 hours of oral history.
- Copies of Wairarapa Māori Land Court minute books with a searchable online index.
- Wairarapa newspapers from 1883 to the present.
- A comprehensive reference collection, including both fiction and non-fiction materials.
- The predecessor records of the Masterton District Council from 1860s until 1989.
- Cemetery information for Riverside and Archer Street graves.
- Access to Ancestry.com (inside the archive or library), Family Search and NewsBank.
