Taradale Library

Napier Libraries provides a welcoming environment for everyone. Our libraries have everything from
books and digital resources, board games to robots and Virtual Reality, we’re here to support you on your
journey – whether it’s to learn, share, work, meet, or develop new skills.

Napier has had a public library service since the days of the Athenaeum in 1865! We currently have two
locations: The Napier Library is temporarily housed within the MTG Hawke’s Bay, and we have a branch
library in Taradale. We’re looking forward to our new purpose built library in 2027 where we’ll have
bookable community meeting rooms, creative learning and collaboration spaces, a dedicated children’s
area and a coffee kiosk. It will truly be an important community gathering place for all ages.
