About Kingston Library
Located in the picturesque town of Kingston at the foot of Lake Wakatipu, Kingston Library is a charming and essential community hub in the Queenstown Lakes District. The town itself has a rich history dating back to the gold rush era of the 1860s, when it served as a major lake port for accessing the Lakes District from the south.
The library building was originally a one-room schoolhouse. In the 1980s, this school closed, and the building was repurposed as the Kingston Library.
Today, Kingston Library offers a range of resources and services typical of small community libraries, including access to books, educational materials, and community activities. It is a vital part of the local infrastructure, supporting lifelong learning and community engagement.
