About Taumarunui Library
Taumarunui Library is the main and largest library branch in the Ruapehu District, sharing a sunny space in the council office. It exudes a warm, welcoming and homely atmosphere with its use of colour and quirky furnishings, which is often commented on.
Along with the usual and expected services, it has a growing collection of jigsaw puzzles and STEM borrowable kits, a bookable meeting room (which is a free quiet space for users if not booked) and a storage of microfilm containing historical copies of local newspapers dating back to 1906. The library has a microfilm reader for viewing and printing.
Library staff also offer a home delivery service and run a popular book club (with coffee and homemade cake!) once a month within a council meeting room.
