Masterton Public Library reports scam
While it is believed this is located in the Wairarapa, Masteton Library Manager, Tiffany Daubitz, contacted Netsafe to report the scam.
"Some of our customers have been receiving calls from the International Library Service about owing hundreds of dollars to the library and asking them to pay over the phone," said Tiffany. "100% this is a scam and we've told patrons to ignore calls of this nature"
The Library is posting to their social media accounts to make their customers aware that this is a scam. And all public Library Managers have been alerted and are on the lookout for scammers.
So don't be fooled by anyone claiming they are from your local library and are trying to get money or personal information from you. Call your local library and report any suspicious incidents to Netsafe.
